COVID-19 UPDATE
We have been monitoring the Government/Scientific advice to ensure the safety of learners, our trainers, and the wider community and as a result, including the loss of our training venues, have reluctantly had to postpone all our courses, for the time being.
We hope to be able to offer dates once the situation improves and we regain our venues.
In the meantime the Dfe has agreed to extend certificates until 31st March. This is their latest update:
Requalification
Additionally, if PFA certificate requalification training is prevented for reasons associated directly with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, or by complying with related government advice, the validity of current certificates can be extended to 31 March 2021 at the latest. This applies to certificates expiring on or after 1 October 2020 and includes paediatric first aiders in provision registered on the General Childcare Register as well as Ofsted registered early years provision. Childminders can also apply this extension.
New Government Announcement March 2015
All newly qualified staff with a childcare level 2 and 3 qualification will be required to have an emergency paediatric first aid or full paediatric first aid certificate, under new Government proposals, which are expected to come into force by September 2016
All Level 2 and Level 3 staff will be required to have an emergency paediatric first aid or a full paediatric first aid certificate ( 12 hour course) if they are to count towards the staff-qualification ratios in the EYFS.
However, early years providers must continue to have at least one first-aider (ie. having completed the 2 day training course) on the premises at all times. It would be good practise for all staff to be trained to this level.
The emergency first aid training course would be equivalent to one day's training and will need to be refreshed by staff every three years to count towards the ratios.
